VCF Mestalla bested 3-0 in Ibiza
VCF Mestalla fell to a 3-0 defeat against UD Ibiza on Matchday 14 of their Segunda B season, as the opposition proved to be more efficient in front of goal in an even encounter.
Despite missing several players through injury, VCF Mestalla enjoyed two early chances through Esquerdo and Carlos González that forced UD Ibiza goalkeeper Germán Parreño to make saves.
The home team also had an opportunity from the penalty spot, as Marc Ferris pulled back an opposition player inside the box. Javi Lara took the spot kick, sending it over the crossbar.
UD Ibiza began to generate chances from the wings, with several dangerous crosses and a sequence of corner kicks that were well defended by the VCF Mestalla defence, with Emilio Bernad also making interventions -such as from a spectacular Goldar header.
However, eventually the deadlock was broken in the final stretch of the first half: UD Ibiza took advantage of a long ball from Germán Parreño that surprised the defence, and Davo lofted a strike over Bernad to make it 1-0.
In the second half, VCF Mestalla had clear chances from Gozálbez and Carlos González, whilst Adri Gómez headed against the post and Esquerdo also shot against the crossbar.
In the end, two goals from Goldar rounded off the defeat for Óscar Fernández' side, who experienced a 3-0 defeat somewhat harsh based on their performance.
